Time to get ready
Taking time to prep for your senior session is so important! You’ve already made a great choice to book with CMP and now you’re wondering what’s next. Here are my top tips on how to have the best experience.
Pick your date.
The most popular question I get asked is, "how far advance do I need to book?" You want to book your session at least 4 to 6 months in advance. If you are wanting a fall session, you absolutely want to book at least six months in advance. Depending on the package that you choose the availability might be super limited. VIP sessions are only photographed one day per week and only one session per day.
What's your backdrop?
Hooray! Your date is set and now it’s time for the fun part. Picking out the vibe for your session. You want to pick a location that reflects your personality and the setting that makes you the most happiest. CMP will offer location ideas within the style that you are going for if you need ideas. Beauty appointments.
Next, you want to make sure that you get any hair appointments, nail appointments, and spray tans made in advance. Whether you are needing a fresh cut or a hair color touchup having this done at least one week prior to your session is a stress relief. Don’t try out a new haircut prior, just in case you don’t like how it looks!
If you are choosing to get a spray tan, make sure it is by a professional with quality work. Make sure there are no streaks or blemishes around your face and hands!
What to wear.
One month prior to your session it’s time to start narrowing down your final looks. Whether you are using pieces from the style closet or something from your own closet making sure everything fits appropriately is so important! These are senior portraits, you don’t want show too much in certain areas. CMP is available to help pick out outfits or send you in the direction of options for outfits. When you are picking out your outfits, pick a variety, having a variety will give you a nice range within poses and looks. Most people pick out a casual outfit, dressy, one that is all about them, and extra curricular activity attire. When you are picking outfits, choose a variety of textures, outfits with movement and color.
